Wilfried Lemke visits GSF office

Mr. Wilfried Lemke, Special Adviser on Sport for Development and Peace to the United Nations Secretary-General, paid his first visit to the Global Sport Fund office in Doha. He was accompanied by Mr. Antoine Tardy and Mr Abdulrahman Al-Dossari, the Director of the Public Relations Department of the Qatar Olympic Committee.
The GSF Project Coordinator, Carl Marsh welcomed the visitors and explained what has been accomplished in getting youth around the world to take up amateur sports and using this medium to learn positive social skills during their spare time.
Mr. Lemke, who had first hand experience of activities at the International Youth Camp that was held in Cairo in February, hailed the efforts of the GSF to get more youth involved in sport. He saw this programme as a vehicle for promoting development and peace and partnerships around the world.
Mr. Marsh and Mr. Lemke discussed partnership prospects and reviewed some of the outcomes of Cairo that would be woven into future youth camps. In thanking Mr. Lemke for his strong support for the work of the GSF, Mr. Marsh presented him with a medal in recognition for being given the title,"Chief Coach" by the youngsters at the Cairo camp.
The visiting party was also given a tour of the GSF photo gallery.
