Great Olympian Carl Lewis visits GSF office

Carl Lewis visit to GSFCelebrated American track and field athlete and former world record sprinter and long jumper, Mr. Carl Lewis, was taken on a tour of the Global Sport Fund office by H.E.Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, the Secretary General of the Qatar Olympic Committee, on Tuesday.

The nine-time Olympic gold medalist, often known as the "Olympian of the Century", showed a keen interest in the activities of the GSF, when the GSF International Project Coordinator, Mr. Carl Marsh, explained how the organization works to get youth around the world to take up amateur sports.

He further explained how coaches trained by the GSF hone techniques in a particular sport, while training youngsters how to use their spare time participating in various after-school sports activities and abstaining from drug use and behaviours that can lead to juvenile delinquency.

Carl Lewis visit to GSFMr. Lewis was accompanied by Mr. Chris Waddell, twelve-time Paralympics ski champion and Founder-President of the One-Revolution Foundation, and Mr. Hou Bin, three-time Paralympics high jump champion.

All expressed support for the work being done with youth around the world.

H.E Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani also took the visiting delegation around the photo-gallery of the Global Sport Fund that showed action-shots from previous GSF youth camps.
